RARE US first pressing of John Lennon`s most popular album "Imagine", released on Apple Records (September 1971). Front cover photo by Andy Warhol.
"Most insidiously, I fear that John sees himself in the role of truth-teller, and, as such, can justify any kind of self-indulgent brutality in the name of truth. In "Gimme Some Truth," John complains, "I've had enough of watching scenes. Of schizophrenic-egocentric-paranoic-prima donnas"; who is he speaking about now? Personally. I'm interested in John the man, his personal trials and dramas, because he has revealed them to us as John the extraordinary artist. If he does not continue as such, his posturings will soon seem not merely dull but irrelevant. It seems to me that John is facing the most extraordinary challenge of his career, both personally and artistically. GRADING:
MINT- COVER in near-perfect condition. Please see photos for details.
- Fully laminated US first-press sleeve that still retains its full original shine and lustre.
- Tiny corner bend (at botton left). Other than that, pure perfection!
- Stored away for the most part of 45 years, the record has no edge or corner wear whatsoever.
- Includes large fold-out John Lennon poster, as well as the postcard, both in MINT(-) condition.
- Also includes the custom-printed Apple Records inner sleeve in MINT(-) condition.
MINT- RECORD, close to perfect. Played a few times at most.
- Pristine vinyl on both sides, with impeccable audio reproduction throughout.
- A few superficial hairlines from sleeve removal only.
- Original US first pressing Apple Records labels with no spindle wear whatsoever.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "SW-1-3379 Z 13 - Bell Sound" and "SW-2-3379 Z 13 - Bell Sound".
- This record is fully certified to be an original, US first pressing of "Imagine", released in September 1971.
