John Lennon - Roots - LP. Adam VIII record label. Catalogue #A-8018. Orange label/black print. c/w custom record label. If you are looking at this listing - you are obviously aware of the album's dark history and the fact that there were only a few thousand copies sold through TV ads until it was taken off the market. You are also aware that there are counterfeit copies of this LP out there. This LP has been in my collection for a time. I purchased it years ago on the pretext that is is an original copy because it ticks all the boxes of a genuine issue. Here are some of the details that legitimate albums have that fakes do not. The LP in this listing ticks all the boxrs of the points below.
- The cover is constructed of posterboard. - the cover c/w the correct album title on the spine. - c/w "Bell Sound" etched in the run out area of the vinyl. (even some fakes have this - c/w the correct size record label. (some fakes have a slightly smaller label) This one is reak important... If you can see the very small matrix number etched in the label - it os thought to be legit. No known fales are known where you can see this. It is VERY difficult to see. You have to put the vinyl under a light source and tilt it away from you. You need to look very hard around the 7 o'clock area of the label. You can see it on this item.
Morris Levy, owner of the Afam VIII record label had the matrix number of the album hand etched on the printing plate therefore it shows through the label.
