Description
This is a very rare ORIGINAL copy of JOHN LENNON - SINGS THE GREAT ROCK AND ROLL HITS. I bought this myself through the mail and they didn't pack it worth a crap! The cover has multiple bends, but it is guaranteed the real deal.
This 1975 ADAM VIII release was illegally released by Morris Levy before it was stopped. Apparently it was only available for THREE DAYS!!! I don't remember if I had no choice but to keep it or send it back and get my money back, as everything happened very quickly. I'm sure I was not happy when it arrived in this shape, but knew I should keep it.
I am the original owner and have played it maybe three times (once to grade it the other day). The LP itself is a pretty fine pressing despite all of the sneaky goings-on.
I have stored it in a plastic sleeve since I got it. Check the many photos and scans.
I use GOLDMINE grading standards:
DISC - NM+ I hear one tic in the early part of STAND BY ME, o/w a very nice clean pressing.
COVER - VG (except for repaired split at top). It has multiple bends and wrinkles and a 2 inch split on the spine that I carefully glued. The upper right of the cover is the worst as far as bending.I usually don't scan covers, but in this case I wanted to make sure the bends were visible. This is the rather thin white stock original cover, not cardboard with covers pasted on. It has the type on the spine unlike counterfeits.
I am pretty obsessive, so I may point out more than I should for my own good, but it's my nature. I am grading these by PLAYING them and looking at them. Check my Feedback. I have learned they don't credit back their fee if I end up partially refunding some of the shipping.
LP's are removed from their outer sleeve to help protect against edgewear and sent in plastic protective sleeve.

5/5/14 - In answer to a question----I had this record stored with a collector's plastic lined plain inner sleeve (like I do with all my 'keeper' or collectible albums). If it came with the printed Adam VIII inner sleeve I did not keep it together with the album. I have looked through my few stashes of vintage printed sleeves (mostly extra ones) and do not see it. I may look through some of my old albums to see if I swapped it with another album for a plain sleeve. But, for now assume you will not get the original printed inner sleeve. If I find it, I'll scan it and add it to the auction. I'm pretty obsessive and looking at it online didn't jog my memory.
