Attention, John Lennon & Beatles fans! Up for auction is a copy of John Lennon’s infamous 1975 album, Roots: John Lennon Sings the Great Rock & Roll Hits on the Adam VIII Ltd. label.
This record was put on late night TV for one week before a cease & desist order was put on the record label. Counterfeit copies have shown up since then. I think this may be a reproduction but the spine on this copy reads "John Lennon Sings the Great Rock & Roll Hits." The fake copies are known to say "John Lennon Sings the Greatest Rock & Roll Hits."
There is a matrix number of 8018 A pressed into side 1 label but no “Bell Sound” stamp.
This album was later released as John Lennon's "Rock ‘n’ Roll" album on Apple Records in 1975. Check out all of the cool alternate, early mixes and the two songs that didn’t make it on to “Rock ‘n’ Roll”: “Angel Baby” and “Be My Baby!”
Both, the cover and the record are in VG+ condition. The cover shows very little signs of wear. The spine where it says “Great” is slightly worn.
The vinyl is clean and crisp. Very little wear at all.
