Description

This auction is for the vinyl LP  -  JOHN MARTYN  -  ONE WORLD ** SIGNED BY JOHN MARTYN ON THE BACK COVER . **  This LP was signed and dedicated by John, to Alphi O'Leary back in the 70's.  Alphi was ERIC CLAPTONS bodyguard etc., back in the 1970's / 80's, he was a very popular character on the music scene/tours/ and with fans.  Possibly signed in 1977, when Eric covered John's "May You Never" for his Slowhand album.   ( This album came from a box of Alphi's old items. I sold a lot of Alphi's/Claptons bits quite a few years back, somehow this was put in another box until I re-discovered it a couple of weeks ago ).    1977 Island Records  (US issue)  ILPS 9492.  ( Please see label close-ups for track listings etc.   Matrix numbers; SIDE ONE  =  ILPS 9492 A-2   STERLING,   SIDE TWO = ILPS 9492 B-2  STERLING.        Please note -  I play all my records, both sides, to check for any defects, I will mention anything I notice in the condition report.  Listened using my mid-range Audio Technica ATLP 120 deck with an Ortofon cartridge.  PLEASE SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR MORE ALBUMS..
Condition: The picture sleeve for this album has some storage rubs / ring wear marks and some rubs to the edges + has a clip to the bottom left corner, rates only very good  condition,  BUT,  MOST IMPORTANTLY THE COVER HAS THE DEDICATION AND SIGNATURE ON THE BACK COVER, SIGNED IN PEN.   The covers spine is clear and there is NO record break-through to the edges.  The inner sleeve has the bottom corner clip, o/w = very good +.  The labels = excellent.   I have played both sides of this album and they play real nice, with only the occasional pop / little crackle.   Visually - Alphi seems to have enjoyed this album, as he has obviously played it many times, with the vinyl having some small, light marks/scratches, nothing too dramatic, rates just very good  to very good +.  Overall though, still a great, enjoyable listen, with NO clicks, sticks or jumps.   Please note, any white flashes or shadows on my pictures are usually from the spot lights I use for photographing things, or the sun (if it's out), they do not appear on the actual cover or vinyl..
Where appropriate, the record will be taken out of its picture sleeve and put into a new plain sleeve to prevent record breakthrough damage to the original sleeve whilst in transit. The item will then be put into a new Covers 33  400g poly protective cover to keep it safe. All my records are sent out in a strong cardboard package marked '' vinyl records - please do not bend '' + '' fragile ''.   When grading my records I use the Record Collector Magazines grading guide: Mint = Brand new condition.  Excellent = The record will show some signs of being played, but very little lessening in sound quality. The cover etc. may have slight wear or creases. Very good = The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major sound deterioration, despite noticeable surface marks / light scratches.  The cover would have normal wear and tear - no major defects unless mentioned. Each description might be tweaked with a  + or - .  I play all my records and will mention anything noticeable.
