Description

We have for sale this fantastic UK LP from John Martyn entitled 'Solid Air'.

Cover - Very Good

Inner - Original Plain Inner, Very Good

Vinyl - Good+ (Playing) / Good+ (Visually)

Matrix - ILPS9226 A-1U / ILPS9226 B-2U

This original UK Island LP plays well with no jumps or skips or any real loss of sound quality. All of this LP plays excellent except for three surface marks that occur across tracks 2 & 3 on side 2. These surface marks causes crackle and/or a small pop from halfway through track 2 until about halfway track 3. This crackle happens once per revolution, so it is not strictly continuous, but it's there. Because of this, we have strictly graded this LP as good plus, even though most of the LP plays excellent. Visually, we also grade this LP as good plus. There are no fingerprint marks, 1 hairline scratch on side 1, the 3 surface marks on side 2 (that causes the crackle) and no paper scuffs. The labels are clean and are free from writing, marks and stains with just some spindle traces.

The original plain inner is in very good condition, it is intact with no marks, stains or writing, just some browning.

The original Robor Limited gatefold cover is in very good condition. There is some scuffing to the corners and edges but only one bit is heavy, in the top left corner and bottom left corner. The spine is clean and all of the words are completely readable. The front cover has some very light creasing and the back cover has a little rubbing/ringwear. The inside of the gatefold is almost perfect with just some very light rubbing. Overall, this cover is intact, no stains, marks or writing. Have a look at all the pictures for further details.

Overall this is in very good minus condition and is a great addition to anyone's collection.

All gradings are in accordance with the Record Collector's Grading System which is listed at the bottom of this write-up for reference.

Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
