Here is an EXCELLENT MINUS! copy of the DEBUT LP from JOHN MARTYN titled THE TUMBLER. It is an UK pressing on the “PINK RIM” ISLAND label, catalog #ILPS 9091 in STEREO sound. This LP was originally released in 1968. The vinyl is in EXCELLENT! condition, shiny and black, with some non-sounding marks and should have excellent playback. The original cardboard cover is in EXCELLENT MINUS / VERY GOOD PLUS! condition with light ring wear, glue separation of front to back cover (previous owner used tape at bottom) ON RIPS OR TEARS!, small green sticker on back top right, a few small light creases, some light wear to corners and edges. It is really an excellent cover without the tape. It is an EXCELLENT! copy of this DEBUT! LP from for you to own. It is an opportunity to purchase th FIRST LP from JOHN MARTYN in this condition. Following an inauspicious first release for Island, John Martyn's unique brand of acoustic music began to take some sort of shape with the Al Stewart-produced The Tumbler. Martyn, whose debut was a solo acoustic offering, here employs a second guitar, bass and, most notably, jazz flautist Harold McNair to create his blend of folk, blues and jazz. While his songs show only marginal development from London Conversation, it's his arrangements and, especially, vocals which are the real differences, each becoming increasingly more idiosyncratic. Although nowhere near the caliber of his later recordings, The Tumbler is an important step in Martyn's varied career.
