A great opportunity to buy an ORIGINAL copy of a VINYL LP from the 1970’s by John Taylor called "Pause And Think Again".
This is possibly one of the rarest Modern Jazz albums, as originally it sold in very small quantities. To find a FIRST PRESSING copy in this EXCELLENT condition is an absolute must for any avid collector of early 1970's Modern Jazz music.
John Taylor is a British pianist and composer and he was an integral part of the British Modern Jazz revolution in the late 1960's / early 1970's period and continues to be a well respected musician.
This was his debut album and features musicians Kenny Wheeler on trumpet, Chris Laurence on bass, Tony Levin on drums, Chris Pyne on trombone, Stan Sulzman on Alto sax, John Surman on Soprano sax and Norma Winstone vocals on one track. John Taylor is heavily featured on piano.
Made in England and released in 1971 on the now legendary Turtle label (TUR 302) (stereo), it has a total of 5 tracks:-
Side One: - And Think Again; White Magic; Pause.
Side Two: - Answering; Soft Winds.
The vinyl is in a lovely clean and shiny EXCELLENT condition. I always grade and examine records under a bright table lamp and there are a few light surface marks evident, some of which may well have been transit scuffs caused by the inner sleeve. There is also one other surface mark noticeable (see photo), but this and the light surface marks are not serious and have no effect whatsoever on the terrific sound quality and the record plays superbly. There are very few spindle marks noticeable, so it is clear from this and the sound quality, that the record could only have been played a small number of times.
The labels are completely clean and free from any writing, marks or major defects.
The record is perfectly flat and has no warps of any description.
The matrix numbers are: - TUR 302 - A (side one) and TUR 302 - B (side two).
The record is housed in its original plain die-cut inner sleeve in EXCELLENT condition, apart from two small tears near the die-cut opening (see photo) .
The unlaminated gatefold picture cover is in an EXCELLENT condition. It has striking photos on the front and back. The edges and spine are very strong and the text on the spine is clearly readable (see photos). There is just some very minor wear at the corners and along the bottom edge in isloated areas. On the front is a mark which is possibly the remains of its original price sticker, but this has been left on for fear of damaging the cover (see photo). There is also a very small mark below the bottom tomato. Inside the gatefold, both sides are clean and undamaged.
Overall an exceptional example of this highly collectable 41 year old record and cover.
