THE LONDON PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA - STAR WARS AND A STEREO SPACE ODYSSEY. Damont Records DMT 2001 UK STEREO 33 1/3 RPM 12" LONG PLAY ALBUM 1977. ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING ON YELLOW DAMONT LABEL WITH MATT SLEEVE, "THIS IS NOT A RECORDING OF THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK" HYPE STICKER AND ORIG PAPER INNER. Condition: VG+(light storage wear)/VG+(light surface marks).
In late 1977 Damont Records commissioned the best-selling London Philharmonic Orchestra to record this album centred on the symphonic sci-fi music of John Williams. The resulting sessions feature exciting space drama arrangements courtesy of Colin Frechter, Vernon Handley and Leo Muller - best-known for his fast cash-in recordings of popular music trends. With cool 70's Star Wars artwork featuring Mark Hammill, Carrie Fisher and Alec Guinness. To head-off the legal challenge from George Lucas / Lucasfilm a sticker was placed on the first pressings informing buyers this is not the "Original Soundtrack", and all the lovely artwork by Laurence Vant was removed from later issues!
