What a way to go. Cash’s last hurrah, and it’s a doozy. A double-LP, this one includes covers of “Hurt”, “Personal Jesus”, “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”, “In My Life”, “Desperado” and, like, a dozen more. Cash (and producer Rick Rubin) also arranged for a killer assortment of talent to back him up: Nick Cave, John Frusciante, Fiona Apple, Marty Stuart, Billy Preston, Don Henley, Glen Campbell, Joey Waronker, Smokey Hormel … not to mention Heartbreakers Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell. Wow!
This is the original, released in 2002, at the deep nadir of vinyl record marketplace popularity. The vinyl edition also includes two songs that weren’t added to the CD’s tracklist, “Wichita Lineman” and “Big Iron.”

GRADING
I don’t up-grade my records to make more money. Usually, VG++ is as high as you’ll see me go. Near Mint is rare, usually play-test verified. And Mint? That is reserved for sealed items in pristine “like new” condition.
