JOHNNY CASH Original SUN Sound UK Plum London 1st DECCA GROOVED PRESSING

Original Sun Sound Of Johnny Cash.

Original UK pressed London "American Series" Records mono LP, HA-S 8220.

Earliest plum and silver pressing with distinctive Decca pressed groove and 1B/1B matrix suffixes, C 1 / K1 mothers/stampers.

Vinyl very close to EX. A few spider trail marks are visible around the spindle areas, but not excessively so, and there is no wear or whitening at the centre areas. Playing surfaces still have a very high gloss. Close inspection with a magnifying glass reveals three or four light scuff marks, but these are isolated marks on an otherwise very clean LP.

Playback has been tested in entirety and is excellent throughout. The sound is crisp and free of distortion or groove wear. There are no clicks or ticks. No crackle is heard during the tracks, although there is some occasional very low level static dust crackle audible during the band separators. Given that the LP had a few areas of dusting and finger marking which I have gently removed with a lightly dampened lint free cleaning cloth, I can only see room for improvement. Generally provides a superb listening experience throughout.

Labels are undulled and undefaced both sides.

Poly lined inner sleeve EX.

External sleeve a strong VG. The front panel is still very clean and bright and neither front or rear panel has any sticker or pen marks. The laminate to front is undamaged. There are just a few tiny pinch line creases leading in from edge areas, some of which have darkened a little, and a couple of tiny hairline laminate creases to main front panel. Predominantly white rear has suffered a little handling/storage darkening and grubbiness, and has a few smallish tan stains. There are no large areas of staining or discolouration however, and the rear is not overbearingly marked. Seams and edges in good order and without fraying or seam splits. Entry side still acceptably crisp and not dinked or feathered. Tips just gently rubbed. Backflaps are internal. The top backflap has become ungummed (not torn) to an area of approx. two inches at the right hand entry side. The rear corner is slightly creased back at this point, but not heavily so, and easily restorable by gumming back down.

On the whole a nice surviving example of this early UK Johnny Cash LP.
