Description

JOHHNY GRIFFIN - BLUE NOTE 1559 VOL. 2 'A BLOWING SESSION'

A truly excellent BLUE NOTE BLP 1559 MONO original from 1957 featuring the finest BLUE NOTE artists of their time,
LEE MORGAN, JOHNNY GRIFFIN, HANK MOBLEY, JOHN COLTRANE, WYNTON KELLY, PAUL CHAMBERS and ART BLAKEY!

For offer is the ultra rare first pressing in EXCELLENT condition! Record has the double-sided deep groove with the correct
47 WEST 63rd NEW YORK 23 address on both sides.
The Record bears the famous "Ear" stamp as well as the Rudy van Gelder "RVG" mark in the dead wax.
There's no Registration "R" on either side of the Labels (please have a look at the images)

CONDITION

Disc: EXCELLENT

The original BLUE NOTE first pressing weighs 166g.

Both sides of the Vinyl are shiny & clean. There are absolutely no major defects, no groove wear, no feelable scratches or other blemishes visible!

There are only one or two faint superficial scuffs on each side.

I play-graded the album and both sides of the Vinyl album play without crackles, sticks or any repeats! Just mild static between the tracks

and a few faint 'Pops' on Side 1 very occasionally only. Even in the quieter passages (piano or bass solo) there's nothing, but pure music!

Side 2 plays excellent too, but right at the beginning of B2 there are about 15 'Ticks', but that's about it!

You will be pushed hard to find a better copy of this sought-after beauty! All in all both sides of the Vinyl will grade as EXCELLENT!

Labels: VERY GOOD

Both deep grooved BLUE NOTE Labels have the correct 47 WEST 63rd NEW YORK 23 address. There's no letter "R" to either side.

Side 2 Label has two small initials in blue ink. The blue area of both Labels have suffered from an unprofessional cleaning job, as they're both slightly faded.

Cover: EXCELLENT-

The heavy-duty original BLUE NOTE BLP 1559 is in remarkable condition for an almost 60 year old Record Cover!

The laminated front panel is in EXCELLENT condition, with no unwanted writing, not a single crease and all three seams intact – absolutely no splits!

The front Cover shows minimal wear to two corners and slight lamination lifting towards the opening edge.

The non-laminated back panel is in EXCELLENT- condition, with minimal yellowing to the top and bottom area, two small initials in blue ink & an original Bruxelles (Belgium)

record store sticker from the late 1950's (which only adds to the charm of this 50's BLUE NOTE original, in my opinion).

Printed Inner Sleeve: VERY GOOD

The album comes with the correct BLUE NOTE ad Inner Sleeve, which has a bottom seam split and fraying to the opening top edge.

I always stick to the 'RECORD COLLECTOR' grading system (please see details below).

Satisfaction guaranteed!

Thanks for looking & good luck! Please feel free to contact me for further details! Please have a look at my other auctions!

The album will be mailed to the lucky winner in a stiff record box with extra cardboard stiffeners for best possible protection! The experience and fun of buying records on eBay is ruined if you discover that – once the album arrives – they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I try to describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging. Please see my excellent feedback especially in terms of packaging! My records come from a guaranteed smoke- and pet-free home!
