JOHNNY HARTMAN I Just Dropped By To Say Hello 1970 ABC-Impulse RVG Press AS-57
Very clean scarce transitional ABC-Impulse pressing of I Just Dropped By To Say Hello, issued shortly after ABC acquired Impulse Records in 1970. It features black labels with red print and an early ABC-Impulse logo, a style used only briefly before the late 1972 common green label ABC-Impulse reissues.
What sets these transitional copies apart is that they retain the original Rudy Van Gelder mastering and are pressed from the Impulse RVG lacquers.
A unique opportunity to obtain the Van Gelder cut without hunting down and paying the higher price of the original 1964 orange and black Impulse issues.
This album features Johnny Hartman backed by guitarist Kenny Burrell, pianist Hank Jones, and drummer Elvin Jones, delivering one of the most respected vocal jazz sessions in the Impulse catalog.
