Brief Info: Johnny Jenkins is a blues guitarist and vocalist, this is a very important album within his catalogue and a superb set it is too. It includes some fantastic covers and a wonderful album in the dark ‘swamp’ style southern blues-rock genre. Important as this was intended to be a Duane Allman ‘solo’ album, but he left to form the Allman Brothers Band and this now credited to Jenkins. Allman plus a host of future Allman Brothers Band members feature on this hugely impressive set. The classic opening track – Dr John’s sublime ‘Walking on Gilded Splinters’ sets the tone of this album that also features songs by Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Bob Dylan (amongst others). It has dark overtones of the Dr John ‘Night Tripper’ era who also made albums on the sister label Atlantic at this time.
Cover Grade and Format: Very Good / Excellent with some slight rubbing on the edges.
Cover Inner Gatefold: The inside is superb with barely anything to fault.
Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: Excellent / Near Mint. Visually a super record that should please most-all collectors.
Sound Quality and Audio Grading: Excellent / Near Mint. This quality blues-rock album plays as well as it looks.
