Johnny Jones is barely remembered in the US for his meager soul hit "Tennessee Waltz" back in the summer of '68 for Fury Records.

Talking to Northern Soul collectors, they'll tell you a different story, about several of his platters that really hit the spot. This single, from October of 1968, is his Brunswick single of “Purple Haze” (Yes! It IS the Jimi Hendrix song), paired with his own original “Horsing Around.”
