WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and Hard-To- Find original CBS Records very first High Fidelity MONO press released by CBS Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1967 by Goluboff Industrias Fonográficas S.A. (Goluboff Records), catalog number 8622, with machine etched matrix numbers ALM 46134 C in Side 1 and ALM 46135 C in Side 2, with traditional orange/black CBS Records labels of the period, with centered squared “CBS” logo. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“LOS MAS GRANDES EXITOS” is a compilation album released in 1967 in Chile and, as far as I know, ONLY RELEASED IN CHILE and, like so many times in the period, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER, made of a single piece of cardboard folded in the middle with two sheets of paper attached (only partially glued in the mouth edge) to that cardboard for front and back cover, so 3 sides are open faking a gatefold cover and kept all together for a plastic bag. Front cover has a picture of Johnny Mathis on knees, which I’ve only seen as Picture Sleeve of the Brazilian compilation “Grandes Interpretações de Johnny Mathis - Vol. II”, released in 1966, with album title and full tracklist written in Spanish only, with CBS Records logo and catalog number at top left corner. Back cover doesn’t have any mention to Johnny Mathis, it only has other 16 CBS albums recommended by Goluboff Records, with the Picture Sleeve, album title and full tracklist of each album. In labels, the album title is written in Spanish only and the tracklist is written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters and for the film where the song was taken, when applicable, and for legendary Mexican singer Armando Manzanero as Spanish lyricist of “Gina”, the song sung in Spanish by Johnny Mathis, with additional information about the tax law applicable in Chile. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE Chilean compilation by Johnny Mathis, ONLY RELEASED IN CHILE, with UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, with Spanish-written album and song titles, and with song “Gina” sung in Spanish, a record almost never seen and maybe auctioned here in eBay by the very first time, A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Traditional Vocal Pop/Soul music of the ‘50’s and the 60’s and especially for all fans, lovers and collectors of Johnny Mathis and Armando Manzanero!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX- or even EX condition, with light wear in all edges, more evident in the mouth edge and corners, almost impossible to avoid because the sheets of paper are bigger than cardboards, with some little rips and faint creases, with evident age browning and some faint blemishes, complete and free of marks of any kind. The record is in nice VG- or VG condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many scuffs, light hairlines and soft scratches, which don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in great EX or EX+ condition, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear and faint blemishes. The sound is in strong VG- or even VG condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant soft crackles and regular light clicks and some occasional light pops, especially evident in songs “It’s Not For Me To Say” and “Warm”, which could cause some distraction, but the sound keeps loud and clear from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record in this MEGARARE Chilean press, ONLY RELEASED IN CHILE, with UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, with Spanish-written album and song titles and with song “Gina” sung in Spanish, for sure not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but with a very nice cover and a record with not the best but still a glossy look, almost immaculate labels and a very decent and respectable sound quality after about 57 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
