Here on offer is undoubtedly one of Australia’s most sought after and collectable records. For many collectors of Australian rock and roll this album is the last piece required for their collection. Johnny O’Keefe’s fourth album entitled “I’m still alive” featuring his famous car crash which almost ended his life is regarded as the jewel of the crown for Johnny O’Keefe collectors. Issued in 1961 this red and silver Leedon label LL-30.120 Monaural album is almost impossible to find. Over the last 8 years that I have been on Ebay I have only seen it for sale twice.

CONDITION

Vinyl – This album plays well. There is a minor warp which did not in any way affect play. There are some minor marks on the album but it has been well looked after and as a result plays loud and clear. There is an occasional crackle and pop and the last track does have a few clicks but in all very satisfactory. VG-

Cover – This cover could have very possibly been in the front seat of Johnny’s car crash but like Johnny it was still alive (but barely). Front cover has tears, the number 13 written in biro, ring wear and staining. There are splits in all the seams. The back cover is worse but with one saving grace all of the cover notes are legible. A corner has been ripped off, some staining, another corner torn, some writing and a stamp. Front cover – Fair. Back cover – Poor+.

In conclusion a great opportunity to purchase a genuine rare Australian rock and roll relic. The vinyl is in most acceptable condition but the cover is only a gap filler. Good luck trying to find another copy of this album let alone one in better condition as it is almost impossible.
