JOHNNY PERRY “Terrible, Terrible Feeling” rare mournful blues 45 JUBILEE NM ’53

Label:   JUBILEE.  Stock copy, label is royal blue with silver text.  Catalog number is 45-5125.    

Year:  1953

NOTE:  This record was found in a recent Baltimore house cleanout among a handful of early 50s singles in a brown paper bag where they had been carefully preserved for decades.  Its heavy green “Recordvelope” sleeve was stamped with the call letters for renowned Baltimore radio station W-C-A-O. Most (including this one) appear to have been played one or two times at most, or possibly unplayed.

Vinyl is extremely clean, obviously has been played only a small number of times and handled with care.  Grades EXCELLENT with no scuffs, scratches, marks, or wear.  Plays with clean fidelity given that Jubilee Records used a less-than-top quality vinyl in their pressings, with only a slight hint of surface noise in a few places. 

(Note:  There are some very slight bubbles in the vinyl that do not affect the playback – they are very small and are merely a minor cosmetic pressing imperfection that I mention only in the interest of completeness – nothing to be concerned about.) 

This is a beautiful record that will likely be of interest the serious blues collectors.  

When I describe it as “mournful” you will know in the first few bars what I am talking about, as there is woeful crying thoughout the entire track. A very sad song indeed.

The B-side is a standard blues instrumental featuring the Johnny Perry Orchestra.
