 JOHN'S CHILDREN
"THE LOVE I THOUGHT I'D FOUND" b/w "STRANGE AFFAIR"

7" DEMO on the original COLUMBIA RECORDS DB 8030 from 1966


The debut 1966 rare single, groundbreaking and controversial - and a pop-art monster
breakout record from this renowned band. For me it's not really the most interesting point that Marc Bolan was a member of this band at any point. Yes he was a figure of importance, but rather later, and it shouldn't eclipse the brilliance of this outstanding 45 either!
As a garage groove it's one of the best of a fantastic year, predating 'flower power' and with all the Mod pill-popper references that bands like The WHO and Small Faces alluded to in some of their early tracks. "SMASHED, BLOCKED, I'M LOSING MY MIND" was not something generally acceptable for a radio friendly hit. so this did of course sink without a trace.
The flip is a cool Bonzo-Dog Doo Dah Band styled piece.
A few demos exist, rarely seen for sale - so here is a scarce chance to grab a landmark record from an astonishing era in music that has remained influential and formative for pop and rock ever since.



The vinyl is VG to VG+ visually, with some light surface marks, but not to greatly effect the sound or playing of this great slice of psycho mayhem!
The lables grade VG+ with few light spindle marks, the flip has the lable printed a little off-centre but most importantly, not the spindle-hole.
The Columbia company cover is included.
