John's Children briefly featured Marc Bolan on guitars for four months and this single is from that smashing psychedelic time.

The band had played at The 14 hour Technicolour Dream Festival at Alexandra Palace in London, 29 April 1967, and Bolan left in June after disagreements with manager Simon Napier Bell (who had put him in the group in the first instance) and how the single "A Midsummer Nights Scene" was being produced.

Desdemona / Remember Thomas A Becket was the replacement single, rerecorded with new lyrics.
