Description
Up for auction is a very rare copy of the Jonathan Richman & Modern Lovers album "Rock 'N' Roll With The Modern Lovers" originally released on Beserkley Records (BZ 0053) in 1977. This is a guaranteed, authentic first U.S. pressing, not a cheap reissue or import, like most for sale on eBay. This is also a rare Promotional copy, with original Beserkley inner sleeve (dated 1977), and a super rare Black & White gloss press photo of Jonathan Richman.
Gold promo stamp on back, upper left corner. Unlike other promo copies, this one doesn't have the obnoxious large white time strip on cover--just the small stamp on back. Rare as such, and far more desirable.

Rare 8"X10" black and white press photo is in mint condition. Rare original Beserkley paper inner sleeve dated 1977 is also in beautiful, un-worn condition. Very well-preserved.
Cover is in very nice condition. These original matte covers were very prone to rubbing wear, and this one has some, but less than many. Front is nice and colorful, nice graphics. Light ring wear at top and bottom middle on both front and back (see photos). Corners are strong, though a little rubbed. Seams strong, no splits and only minor rubbing. Spine is nice, not sun-faded. Overall, still a very attractive example. Grade the cover Excellent Minus/Very Good Plus (EX-/VG+).
Vinyl record is in beautiful condition, still retaining its original high gloss shine. No obvious scratches, scuffs, or marks; though there are very superficial signs of having been taken in and out of paper inner sleeve a few times. Labels are clean, no marks around spindle holes, indicating little previous play. I doubt this record has been played more than a couple times--very few signs of previous handling or play. Grade the vinyl Near Mint Minus (NM).
