MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Asylum Records STEREO very first press released in Argentina in 1979 by Asylum Records, made and distributed by EMI ODEON S.A.I.C., licensed from Warner Communications Inc., USA, through WEA Discos S.R.L. in Argentina, catalog number 89120, with hand etched matrix numbers 5E-505/A in Side A and 5E-505/B in Side B, with traditional yellow/black labels, with silver text, blue rim text and white “Asylum” logo. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from South America!!!

“MINGUS” was originally released in USA in 1979 and the same year the record was released in Argentina, but with a different cover. The cover in Argentina is a thin non-gatefold and non-laminated flipback cover made with a single piece of cardboard, folded in the middle, with front cover pasted in the flip of back cover at top edge and back cover pasted on the flips of front cover at bottom and top edges. Front and back cover keep strictly the original US artwork. Front cover has the WEA logo at top right corner and written in Spanish “With participation of Herbie Hancock - John McLaughlin - Gerry Mulligan - Wayne Shorter” and back cover has the song titles at top, above the paint, written in Spanish only and below the paint it’s the full list of the musicians involved in this record and additional credits for the art and companies!!! In labels the tracklist is also written in Spanish, but translated to English, with full credits for songwriters, licenses and right societies. So, here you have the chance to get and own this great album by Joni Mitchell, the last work of Charles Mingus, who composed the music of 4 songs, which includes musicians who can’t be ignored, including not only the 4 great Jazz musicians informed in front cover to add interest in the “future” buyer, but also other Jazz musicians like Stanley Clarke, Phil Woods or Jan Hammer. A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Joni Mitchell, Charles Mingus and the long list of Jazz musicians and also for all fans, lovers and collectors of Jazz Fusion/Jazz Rock music!!! WOW!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX or EX+ condition both the front and back cover, clean and clear, with some minimal wear in all edges, more evident in corners, with light ring marks and faint age browning, with some faint blemishes, but free of marks of any kind and all the seams intact, a real miracle for this so fragile kind of cover. The record is in great NM- or even NM condition both sides, glossy and clean, with a very nice brand-new look, with only soft scuffs hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in NM- or NM condition, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is in EX- or EX condition both sides, loud, clear and clear, virtually no background noise, with constant soft crackles and some occasional light clicks here and there, which don’t cause major distraction from the great sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. I guess this record would thank an ultrasonic cleaning. Overall, this is a great record in this Argentinian press, maybe not for the strictest Minty minds and audiophiles, but for sure a record with a very nice cover, a stunning brand-mew look, almost immaculate labels and still great sound quality after 44 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this record in this condition. And keep in mind the UNIQUE NON-GATEFOLD COVER and the Spanish-written song titles!!! Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!! WOW!!! We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
