Well, after listening carefully to this album a couple of times, and being Portuguese myself, I must say this is the best Portuguese progressive recording I’ve heard by far.

A fantastic space-rock concept album, strongly relying on anolog keyboards, mogg and mellotron interplays with lots of strong electric guitar solos and an overall style akin to the best of Italian prog . The sci-fi concept is reminiscent of Eloy as well.

This album is a clear cut from the dreamy psych folk we were used to in Quarteto 1111 and in the previous album I recently sold on ebay, where there is one single track announcing what’s to come (the track lisboa no ano 3000). CID makes a plunge into prog and gets decapitated from the press at the time which makes him, sadly, take a more pragmatic turn and join the Eurovision contest in 1980 (yak!). The same old story how great talent gets wasted. (Just think of Selling England by the pound evolving into “ I can’t dance” and “tonight’s the night”) The comparison is mild.

Anyways, lets forget the malicious CID of the 80’s and embrace this milestone of prog that should figure in any serious collection, especially if you’re into the keyboard driven thing.

the piano melody on the last track that evolves into a space hymn (rightly titled Escape to space!) with a madly screaming CID, makes for one of the very best prog tracks I ever heard.

Note that the lyrics are always in Portuguese!

OK, now specifically about this item :

It is signed by CID himself on the inner booklet and backcover. The booklet consists of 6 pages that open in a magnificient trifold with SCI-FI drawings that remind you of “La planete Sauvage”. Both Gatefold cover and booklet in EX condition (booklet is not attached).

The vinyl, seen under strong light, has many hairlines and superficial marks, rates VG+(+) but plays more like EX. Overall a very good keeper copy of an album you won’t see very often!
