Description
Josef Weiss, notoriously eccentric Hungarian-born pianist ( 1864-? ), a pupil of Liszt in Budapest. He taught in Russia in the early 1890s, then moved to Berlin, where he seems to have remainded for the rest of his career. The Anker discs were recorded on a dual-keyboard Janko-Perzina Piano.
12" acoustic Anker Record E 0085: Mendelssohn, On Wings of Song op. 34 No 2 / Rubinstein, Melody in F op. 3 No 1, matrices 07705 and 07703, both arranged with harmonium, played by Karl Stabernack. Recorded c. 1910. Condition: 1-2 / 2
A great rarity in perfect condition ! Nice label !
Grading:
1 = mint, never played on gramophone, is not used
1-2 = top copy, no traces of use - virtually as new
2 = excellent copy, few light non-sounding rubs/marks
2-3 = light traces of wear (rubs/marks), very light greying and/or light scratches, non sounding blemishes
3 = a good average copy with more noticeable rubs and marks; light greying, few light scratches possible
3-4 = more traces of use, sonic wear from light greying. An inferior average copy, light scratches possible
4 = some sounding wear, heavier rubs and marks, scratches possible
5 = obvious sounding wear, heavy rubs, marks, scratches. An unsatisfactory copy.
