Josephine Foster Hazel Eyes LP 2005 Orig OOP Locust
Original copy of this limited edition vinyl 2005 LP from American folk-spirit Josephine Foster. Long OOP. A series of beautifully bleak, sepia-toned ballads that draw as much inspiration from the lysergic vaudeville of the Incredible String Band and Tiny Tim as they do from the main stream of folk as transmitted by interpreters like Shirley Collins, June Tabor and Kate & Anna McGarrigle. Foster’s vocal is as elastic and otherworldly as Patty Waters and Diamanda Galas, with an operatic facility that affords all sorts of new routes deep into the heart of the wood. Her song-writing is just as beautifully twisted, combining an obsession with death and endings with a cast of neverland characters and assorted mythic folk tropes. Mint/Unplayed.
