DESCRIPTION BODY
ORIGINAL PRESSING MARKERS ----- - White/silver labels with deep blue print, "767 Lexington Ave NYC" address (the earliest Blue Note label address) - RVG hand-etched in the deadwax on BOTH sides (Rudy Van Gelder) - Plastylite "ear" present in the deadwax (Side 2 confirmed) - Machine-stamped matrix: BN-LP-1536-A / BN-LP-1536-B - Flat edge, no R, no INC - Deep groove both sides - Jacket: Reid Miles cover design, Francis Wolff photo, "767 Lexington Ave., New York 21" address on back, "10-21-56" session date noted
THE MUSIC ----- J.R. Monterose's only Blue Note date as a leader, recorded October 21, 1956. A killer hard bop session with Ira Sullivan (trumpet), Horace Silver (piano), Wilbur Ware (bass), and "Philly" Joe Jones (drums). Six tracks including Wee-Jay, The Third, Bobbie Pin, Marc V, Ka-Link, and Beauteous.
CONDITION ----- VINYL (Very Good, VG - PLAY TESTED): - Glossy surface with light handling haze under angled light - Two very small marks on the outer edge of Side 2 that can be felt - this is the reason for the VG grade - Some light hairlines and a few light surface scratches (see photos) - No warps; labels clean with no writing or stickers - Playback: very playable, minimal crackle, open sound. Some distortion toward the end of B3 (Beauteous). Disclosed in full - priced accordingly.
JACKET (Very Good Minus, VG-): - One small seam split on the top seam (middle) - Dings on the other seams - Laminate worn through to bare cardboard along the top edge; spine laminate lifting/flaking - Top-left front corner crushed/creased with minor paper loss - General edge fraying and light browning - Previous-owner blue ink notation and small writing on the back cover - Otherwise structurally sound
SHIPPING ----- - Record removed from the jacket before packing to prevent seam splits in transit - Shipped in an audiophile-grade inner sleeve inside the existing outer sleeve - Packed in a Whiplash heavyweight LP mailer - Fully insured to the final sale price - US shipping only - Additional photos available on request
