The Hobbit, or There and Back Again is a children's fantasy novel by the English author J. R. R. Tolkien. It was published in 1937 to wide critical acclaim, being nominated for the Carnegie Medal and awarded a prize from the New York Herald Tribune for best juvenile fiction. It is recognized as a classic in children's literature and is one of the best-selling books of all time, with over 100 million copies sold.

The Fellowship of the Ring is the first of three volumes of the epic novel[1] The Lord of the Rings by the English author J. R. R. Tolkien; it is followed by The Two Towers and The Return of the King. The action takes place in the fictional universe of Middle-earth. The first edition was published on 29 July 1954 in the United Kingdom, and consists of a foreword in which the author discusses the writing of The Lord of the Rings, a prologue titled "Concerning Hobbits, and other matters", and the main narrative divided into two "books".

Most of the time the background is very quiet which can be difficult in spoken word recordings where there is no music to mask any possible irregularities in the vinyl. In the parts we tested, there were some occasional light ticks heard on our sensitive equipment but nothing very alarming. We rate this as a very nice LP of a scarce title.
