Description
The great Willem Mengelberg conducts his Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam in the renown 1939, Palm Sunday performance of the Bach Matthaus-Passion.
Recorded on flim, the sound of this idiomatic performance is astounding.
This is the "long box" Columbia Masterworks issue SL-179, with the "5th Anniversary Special" label on the front cover.
The discs are the dark blue Masterworks label, ML 4687 - 4689.
