JUICY LUCY "JUICY LUCY" 1970 U.S. white label promo gatefold LP (Atco) SD 33-325 VG/M 

The story of the British Blues Rock group Juicy Lucy begins thousands of miles away in Riverside, California with the psychedelic garage band, The Misunderstood. Both groups featured the fantastic pedal steel guitar work of Glenn Ross Campbell. There were other steel guitar players in Rock such as Sneaky Pete (of the Flying Burrito Brothers) & B.J. Cole (of Cochise & many recording sessions) but no one played it in the aggressive style of Glenn Ross Campbell (not to be confused w/the country crooner of the same name). The Misunderstood went to England at the urging of John Peel (who was a DJ in Riverside at the time under the name of John Ravenscroft) & he got them signed to a singles deal w/Fontana Records. They cut a few great tracks but misfortune & the U.S. draft board dogged them & they broke up. Glenn stayed in England & put together a Misunderstood, Mk. 2 & a few more great singles were released. But the times they were a' changin' & Glenn plus guitarist Neil Hubbard & saxophonist Chris Mercer formed a new band. They recruited Hendrix lookalike Ray Owen on lead vocals, Keith Ellis on bass & Pete Dobson on drums & Juicy Lucy was born. They became one of the first acts on Vertigo Records (Atco in the U.S.) & scored a minor British hit w/their raucous take on "Who Do You Love". This is a great debut LP w/fantastic pedal steel guitar. They released 4 albums over the next few years but they had many personnel changes & their last LP "Pieces" did not have any of the original members.

Gatefold "Unipak" cover is intact w/no writing or tears in great condition. The only flaws are minor shelf wear & corner wear on the bottom. It is graded in VERY GOOD condition. The record has white Atco "Promotional Copy Not For Sale" labels. There are no scratches or scuffs on the MINT record & it has received very few (if any) plays.
