Formerly of The Lemonheads, Blake Babies and Some Girls, Juliana Hatfield also fronted her own band The Juliana Hatfield Three, and their debut album Become What You Are landed in 1993. With its Nietzsche-referencing lyrics, grungy production and spiky song structures, it’s gone on to become a cult favourite for those that know. Single ‘Spin The Bottle’ helped break the band to a wider crowd when it was used in Reality Bites, and all these years later the sound is a strong nostalgia dose for that early 90s period. Now it’s being repressed on American Laundromat in red wax, ready for a new wave of fans to latch on to Hatfield’s sweetly delivered lyricism and crunchy guitar tone.
