Here is one of the most beautiful albums ever released by a woman in the 50s.

Only 3 musicians: Barney Kessel playing some refined and laid back guitar, Ray Leatherhood on bass and Julie for the singing. Often, most simple things work the best; You just need talent and soul and the 3 of them get it.

Her velvet voice sings all those classics with sensuality and some soft and delicious eroticism. You can switch off the light and listen to this music in the dark when all is calm and silent.

Julie London is best know for "Cry Me a River" written by her old High School classmate Arthur Hamilton. Her interpretation has got this indescribable infectious magic that nearly no further cover could equal. Ella Fitzgerald got it in the album Clap Hands, Here Comes Charlie!; But most covers rather butchered this beautiful classic.

However Julie is more than this song: Her version of "'S Wonderful" proves that she can swing like a true jazzwoman.

"Easy Street", "No Moon at All" and "Gone With the Wind" also belong to the most groovy tunes here.

Then, last but not least, Julie London recorded one of the best versions of "I'm in the Mood for Love".

·                          THE RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)         WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)         The record is STILL in its original inner, perforated plastic baggy, which has - apparently with success - shielded the record from the harmful impact of elements over many years!

(c)         The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Stereo  pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more preferable to its mono  counterpart. The mix is more graphic, the sound resolution more precise, and the channel separation (which does not exist on mono version) adds a whole new dimension to the music. Also, the stereo mixes are (by definition) somewhat different than on the mono version. We estimate that mono copies of this album outnumber stereo copies  by a ratio of at least 5:1.

(e)         Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                          THE COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD+++.

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-       Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2.

-       Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record),  probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

-       Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.
