Description

Pianist Julius Katchen plays Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, and Dohnanyi's Variations on a Nursery Tune, conducted by Adrian Boult, on 1960 London Blueback stereo LP CS 6153. 1D/1D stampers. Pressed in England by Decca, this is of course the exact same album as SXL 2176, even the exact same pressing, but with different labels. Anyhow this copy is in truly lovely condition. The disc does have a few very minor surface sleeve scuffs, but it plays with barely the slightest flaw. In one or two places there might be very, very faint ticks or tiny crackling, but only a couple of times and very quietly. Really this record plays absolutely gorgeously and quiet as a mouse. The stereo recording is just unbelievable and this copy really allows it to shine (don't get the horrible CD!) -The cover is likewise simply beautiful, with barely any wear, but with the catalog number written in marker at the top of the back side (see photo). Again, not bad. A very very nice copy of this audiophile rarity.
