Description
JULY (US Pressing, EPIC Records, STEREO BN 26416 – Stamped Matrix XSB137852/3-1A) 1968 You are bidding on a US stereo edition of the lone, super rare album by psychsters July, featuring Tom Newman (he, the first rate producer at Virgin in the early seventies), and Tony Duhig and Jon Field (future members of Jade Warrior). This copy comes from my personal collection. The label states that the record is “A Major Minor Recording Prepared for Release In The U.S.A. by Manny Kellem”. This indicates that Epic undertook their own mastering process for the record, which results in differences from the original UK version. When you consider that the album was released in two formats (mono/stereo) in both the US and the UK, it’s safe to suggest that there are at least four different mixes of this record circulating! The stamp on the back cover denotes that this is a promo copy of the album. TRACK LISTING SIDE 1 – My Clown / Dandelion Seed / Jolly Mary / Hallo To Me / You Missed It All / The Way SIDE 2 – To Be Free / Move On, Sweet Flower / Crying Is For Writers / I See / Friendly Man / A Bird Lived COVER – VG FRONT: The previous owner wrote their name in large letters (using magic marker, no less) in the bottom right hand section of the front cover. The previous seller wrote the band name and price on the tag when it was already stuck to the record; therefore, the indentation of the name can be seen in the top middle section, and the number written near the middle right. BACK- The words “DEMONSTRATION NOT FOR SALE” have been stamped over the band logo. VINYL– Side 1 (NM) Side 2 (EX) – would have received a NM grading but for two sleeve scuffs which do not affect play
