Description
Here's LOUIS ARMSTRONG AND HIS SEBASTIAN NEW COTTON CLUB ORCHESTRA, in 1931, when he resided in Culver City and got busted for smoking pot with Vic Berton! They do "JUST A GIGOLO" and "SHINE" and make you LIKE it!
Louis routinely got away with hilarious vocal shenanigans that would have torpedoed many another career! On "Just a Gigolo," he slyly interpolates, "...When the end comes I know, they'll say, ‘just another jig I know….'”
His epic choruses on "Shine" were lovingly recreated by Harry James in the 1938 Carnegie Hall concert of Benny Goodman, an early example of "Repertory Jazz."
This original 1931 OKeh 41468 is in quite serviceable V+ condition. Some wear.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!
