Description
Singular Christian LP from Just Us, Set Me Free, issued by Crestmont Recordings (CRB 1001). LP and cover – still in the shrinkwrap – are in beautiful near mint condition. Subtitled Popular Christian Music from Hawaii, this sublime album proves the adage, “you can’t judge an album by its cover”. Here’s Ken Scott’s summary in his Archivist:
“This three-girls-and-a-guy folk group had a song on the excellent Psalms compilation featuring various Jesus music artists from Hawaii. Set Me Free is their 10-song full-length custom release in the same warm acoustic style. These are precious songs with a soft, gentle, endearing presence, delicately knit together with acoustic guitars, bass, drums, sometimes piano, and not least of all the group’s charming harmonies. Nice guitar work throughout, including soft electric leads on half the songs that bring a mellow folk-rock vibe. The light-hearted opener ‘Jesus Is The Ticket’ is repeated from the Psalms LP. ‘You Are The Music In Our Hearts’, ‘Holy Spirit’, ‘Though I Feel My Weakness’ and ‘Light Song’ are some of the other titles.
