Jackie Brenston (Ike Turner) recorded at Sun Studios Memphis TN and originally issued on the Chess Record label as a 78rpm in 1951, later on 45rpm in 1954. Rocket “88” is considered my most to be the first true Rock and Roll song. It used a distorted guitar for the first time (played by Ike Turner) really as a result of an accident and damaged amp.


This copy is the REISSUE by Third Man Records in Nashville (2018) using original master recordings.
