JACKIE LOMAX - 'SOUR MILK SEA'/'THE EAGLE LAUGHS AT YOU'
This disc was the 3rd of the four 45s on The Beatles' own Apple Records label which were all released simultaneously on August 30th 1968. It features George Harrison & Eric Clapton on guitars, Paul McCartney on bass, Ringo Starr on drums & Nicky Hopkins on piano.
This strong EXCELLENT copy is a UK 1st mono pressing on the dark green Apple label: APPLE 3
Both labels bear the 'Sold in UK.. text but no purchase tax code is present on the either label.
Housed in its original glossy black, wavy-edge Apple company cover.
Matrix numbers: APPLE 3A-1 & APPLE 3B-1
1001 A-1 & 1001 B-1 are crossed out in each respective run-out.
Stamper codes: 1/A & 1/G
CONDITION
Labels: EXCELLENT +
A rich and clean set with just two or three light spindle marks around the side 2 centre hole only.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
Extremely clean & deep gloss & clean playing surfaces which are free from any scuffs, marks or scratches in strong daylight. Closer inspection directly beneath halogen light reveals some harmless wispy paper-type hairlines but no other blemishes or wear.
Play: EXCELLENT +
This barely played copy plays & sounds great with a deep solid bass and clean & unworn highs. In fact, there is no significant deterioration to the sound quality or indeed any major faults throughout.
Cover
VERY GOOD
Clean & flat with some minor storage wrinkling but no writing, seam splits or tears.
