Description

This is a first pressing of Destination Out by Jackie McLean, on the Blue Note label, BLP 4165, in MONO.   I just listened to it again on my newly tuned up Linn LP12 with Linn Ittok arm, and brand new Grado Cartridge through Quad electrostatic speakers that reveal lifelike detail.  It is a fantastic performance, and a superb recording engineered by the great Rudy VanGelder.  The LP has Van Gelder stamped in the runout grooves along with the ear image.   I will conservatively rate the album and cover as VG, but they are very likely worthy of VG+ rating or higher.  I hear nothing but music, and almost no surface noise beyond what you would expect from a new LP, between the tracks.  The sleeve has always been covered by the original cellophane that the album came with.  This is a great, rare, old & unspoiled recording that you will be proud to own.  For $4, it Media Mail or for $15, Insured FEDEX or USPS as listed below in shipping options.

GRADING (Done visually, based on Goldmine)

Near Mint (NM or M-)

The record should show no obvious signs of wear and will be glossy/shiny. A sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling. No cracks, scratches or warps.

Excellent (EX or VG++)

One or two light marks visible on the disc at most, otherwise full gloss. No cracks, scratches or warps. Sleeve shows 1-2 marks, nothing too major, maybe at the edges.

Very Good Plus (VG+)

A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled.

Record surfaces may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Maybe also slight warps that do not affect the sound.

Sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly bent corners, or a slight seam split.

Very Good (VG)

Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during the intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.

Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers.

Good (G), Good Plus (G+)

A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise, scratches and groove wear.
