Up for auction is an original 1964 Blue Note Stereo P-pressing of Jackie McLean's groundbreaking lp, "One Step Beyond". Recorded in 1963, this monumental release features fantastic work from the entire quintet. Tony Williams was 17 years old when this was recorded. Pretty tough to fathom anyone with this much percussive imagination at such a young age.          

DEAD WAX INFO:  Side 1 has BNST 84137 A etched into the dead wax. Side 2 has BNST 84137 B etched into the dead wax.  Both sides have VAN GELDER and STEREO stamped, and the cursive Plastylite P etched into the dead wax. OG Blue Note stereo press, circa 1964. Kind of rare in this shape.   VINYL VISUAL: VG+ and better with light sleeve removal marking, slight loss of gloss and a tiny bit of bag rash. Labels show maybe 1 or 2 plays. I do not see ANY spindle markings on the Side 1 label. 
VINYL PLAY GRADE:  NM at best with AMAZING Blue Note stereo fidelity, and a tiny bit of noise on the quieter parts. This lp is SO DYNAMIC with a lot of periods of near silence (especially on Moncur's "Ghost Town") making it tough to track down a very quiet copy, yet this copy plays probably about as quiet as you will find.  
COVER VISUAL GRADE: VG+ and maybe a bit better with light overall wear and some minor corner bumping (see pictures). Shows really nice overall.
COMES WITH OG BLUE NOTE PRINTED PAPER INNER. VINYL IS HOUSED IN AN AUDIOPHILE RICE-PLASTIC INNER.

Play grade is done on a Thorens TD 165 through Yamaha amplification and JBL reference headphones (treble set high so there will be no surprises when you get the item). 
ALL ITEMS WILL BE SHIPPED WITH PROPER MAILERS AND EXTRA PADDING, PARTICULARLY AT THE CORNERS. I HAVE MADE FAR TOO MANY PURCHASES ON EBAY WHERE THE ITEM HAS ARRIVED WITH DINGED CORNERS DUE TO INADEQUATE PACKAGING MATERIAL. BY USING FOLDED BUBBLE WRAP IN ALL FOUR CORNERS, YOU CAN BE ASSURED OF AN ITEM WITHOUT DINGED CORNERS (OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND FOR THAT MATTER).             Non-tracked shipping throughout the U.S.A will be $13 CANADIAN per item, as will tracked shipping within Canada. Tracked shipping to the U.S.A. will be $16 CANADIAN for items under 500g, and slightly more for items over 500g. Most single sleeve items can be shipped as under 500g. Gatefolds and multi-sets will be over 500g. 
Being a reasonable person, I will be absorbing ALL of the shipping material cost, and some of the actual postage cost.

IF ANYONE OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS CRAZY INTERESTED IN ANY ITEM, I WILL QUOTE SHIPPING ON REQUEST.
