Description

"Cosmetically-Challenged but Great Sounding" would be a good way to describe this ultra-rare copy of the Jackie Wilson soul classic. Released in 1977 on Brunswick, a couple of years after his tragic on-stage demise, this 7-inch single commands ridiculous prices, with mint condition copies regularly listed in the three-figure bracket.

I acquired this one amongst a huge batch of 60s pop, beat and soul singles. It's obviously been well-played and handled and the photographs give an accurate reflection of the condition of the labels. To look at it, you'd think it would sound terrible - but far from it! I have play-tested it in full, and apart from the odd click here and there, which is not unusual for records in their fourth decade, it sounds fantastic!!

I'd normally avoid listing stuff that looks in this kind of shape, but it is a real genuine collectors item and it sounds way better than it looks.

Vinyl: VG+ (based on how it plays as well as how it looks). Vinyl is relatively clean with some superficial surface marks. Play-tested and it sounds really good with no jumps, skips or skating. There is just a little light background crackle on the run-in/run-off and the occasional "click" during playback, but nothing that seriously detracts from the listening experience. The labels are a problem. Standard black Brunswick company labels with silver label-text on a four-pronged push-out. Both sides are quite badly scuffed and I've tried to show this on the photographs.

Sleeve: No sleeve - will ship in plain white paper die-cut.

It is what it is - an ultra rare and sought-after collectable, but in less than perfect condition, so this will naturally be reflected in the price.
