Although this collection is “used,” it is in mint condition with no observable scratches or warping. All records are visual-graded in a strong light. The cover is in excellent condition; the sleeves show some yellowing due to age.
These performances were given at the Edinburgh Festival 1970 and are released on record by arrangement with BBC Records.

Jacqueline Du Pre (1945-1987) was an English cellist who is regarded as one of the most talented cellists in the second half of the 20th Century. At age 27, multiple sclerosis ended her career as a performer. She studied cello with William Pleeth, Paul Tortelier, and Mstislav Rostropovich.
In 1967 she married Daniel Barenboim, a pianist. Barenboim is currently the general music director of the Berlin State Opera and the Staatskapelle Berlin; he previously served as Music Director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris and La Scala in Milan, Italy.
“Both performers began musical study at the age of five; both made their first public appearances at age seven, and both received early instruction from a parent.” This recording combines the talents of two exceptional artists.
