Grits and Soul is the 8th studio album by James Brown, released by Smash Records in 1964.
I have graded the vinyl Very Good Plus, there are play marks and where the vinyl over the years has been in and out of the sleeve but it plays really well, without any kind of hitch, really enjoyed listening. I'm pretty sure this is a First Pressing but I shy away from being categorical as there are many slips around pressings. Going by the four figure guide, I think it is extremely likely to be but I hesitate to say with certainty, sorry. Perhaps a buyer will know a better way than me to determine the pressing.
I have graded the sleeve Good, which is the furthest down I can through the drop down here, in other words the sleeve is in a poor condition, stiff and damage to edge, pretty poor I have to say. See pictures, which don't show the feel of the sleeve, which is stiff where at some point in our keeping it must have got damp. The albums I'm selling, of which there are many, were in my late husband's collection and were generally well looked after, sorry that James has a cover like this, such a King of his day. The vinyl by contrast is in very good shape comparatively and for its year. As I say above, plays really very well without issue. The album is housed in a poly-lined sleeve to protect it from the roughness of the sleeve. Normally where a sleeve is this poor I would sell the album for less. However, I have priced it at £20 because it is in wonderful condition for its age and plays beautifully. Let's see!
