JAMES BROWN

Live at the Apollo

KING 826 Black label

1st Press Photo Back

Cover: VG

Vinyl: VG-

King Records founder Syd Nathan did not think the people would buy a live record of songs they already owned.

He did not understand the dynamics that James Brown personally brings to a live show.

So, as the story goes

Brown paid for the 1st pressing of the album out of his own pocket.

Including the artwork which included liner notes and a photo of James.

When the record took off King replaced the back cover art with their Color Ad Back and that’s the pressing most people know.

This is. The rare photo and liner notes cover.

Thanks again
