The good news: The laminated cover is in quite good condition. I'd rate it as a strong VG using the UK Record Collector grading. There's some yellowing from age, the glue along the top right edge has lost its grip and there are minor scuffs and creases.
The bad news: There's vinyl crackle all over the tracks and since this is an intimate jazz session, there's no wall of sound to cover the noise.
From what I've read about other copies of this disc, I'm guessing it's not just this particular copy that's below average.
If I were to grade the vinyl only by the way it looks I'd say it's a VG. There are some surface scratches and, as far as I can see, only a few spindle marks.
I have listened to both sides on my modest home stereo system (entry level Pro-Ject turntable, Cambridge amp and Mirage speakers). The music comes through fine but so does the vinyl crackle. The sound does improve a little towards the end of each side. Another stereo might yield better results. I don't have access to a vinyl cleaner so I don't know if a good cleaning would improve the sound.
Having said that, this is a collectors' item so I'm offering it as it is, crackles and all.
