You are bidding on Jan and Dean's ORIGINAL recording of Drag City, their follow-up hit to Surf City with RARE PICTURE SLEEVE. Released on the Liberty Record label (#55641) circa 1963. This edition is ULTRA RARE because it is one of the few still available that has the HANDWRITTEN WORDS "JILL & JAN" WRITTEN INTO THE WAX ON THE B SIDE BETWEEN THE FINAL GROOVING AND THE LABEL! Jill was the name of the girl Jan Berry was dating in 1963 and it is thought he personally had the names inscripted on only the very FIRST EDITIONS of this release in 1963. Estimates are that only between 10 and 100 of these first edition 45's remain today in VG condition or better. This record has been held in my personal collection for 42 years. Vinyl is VG with some evidence of play and light surface scuffing with the B side showing more wear. The record plays fine without skipping. Label is VG+ with some very light scuffing, but no writing marks or holes. Picture Sleeve is VG with very minor creasing visible only under bright lighting, one half-inch tear at the upper back side, and a one-quarter inch tear at the very top of the front side. This is a fine example of this 42 year old Picture Sleeve. B/W is "Schlock Rod (Part 1)". A superb find for Jan and Dean fans or true collectors!
