Description
For the Joplin completist: A nearly flawless white label promo copy of the 1975 double album, "Janis," from the little-seen film of the same name. Released in mono only, it is filled with performances from her pre-fame days, circa early 1960s to later performances with the Big Brother, Kozmic Blues and Full Tilt bands. Also -- because why not? -- an excerpt from Dick Cavett's famous interview with her. Cavett was her date at the 1970 Port Arthur High School reunion, also excerpted here.
The jacket is in beautiful condition with a white timing strip (on back, unusual) revealing a little bit of wear. Upper right corner was clipped by distributor.
The gatefold booklet is amazing, in impeccable condition, with some truly great and rarely seen photos from family members to Francesco Scavullo. Scavullo was known for his ultra high-gloss style, but that was not going to work for Janis and he captured something real and poignant in his excellent photographs of her.
Original dust jackets and two beautiful, unplayed discs complete the package and are, of course, the main attraction.
