Description
Rare promo vinyl LP from master cellist, Janos Starker, on Mercury Records No. SR90347 titled “Janos Starker: Schumann and Lalo Cello Concertos, Skrowaczewski, London Symphony Orchestra”. The recording was made in “Living Presence Stereo” on 35mm magnetic film tape. It has the rare white promo label and “Promotional Copy Not For Sale” stamped on the back cover. The etchings in the runout area on Side-1 reads “SR90347A”, “RFR-1” and “F” and Side-2 reads “SR90347B”, “RFR-1” and “F”. The record itself is in Near Mint condition and the cover and inner sleeve are in Very Good/Excellent condition. The vinyl record has that “like new” shinny look. There are just a few superficial scuff marks on either side of the record (such as from rubbing the inner sleeve) and so there are no needle scratches on either side. I have played this record in its entirety (on a quality turntable) and there was very minimal surface noise and no skips. The front side of the record cover is still glossy and has only a few very minor scratches. The lower right-hand corner of the cover is slightly rounded. The 3 edges of the cover are excellent with no splits. The rear of the cover has just minor surface wear and minor writing in blue ink in 4 places. The writing reads “ESH”, “24:15”, “23:35” and “1-64, 77” (see photos). The original Mercury inner sleeve has two pieces of cellophane tape on the top edge, a 1” long split at the center, lower edge and no splits on either the left or right edges.
