JAPAN - Live at Drury Lane, London 22nd December 1981
Incredibly rare JAPAN LP - I've been a Japan fan and collector of their records for many years and I've never seen another copy of this anywhere.........
LIVE @ Drury Lane 22/12/1981 by JAPAN (David Sylvian / Mick Karn) - There was a record company release of this LP but even those are very rare (the last 'ordinary version' record company issued copy on vinyl sold on ebay went for £29 last month). So what is this one worth? It is listed on a NO RESERVE auction so get your bids in quick for what is probably the rarest of all records by Japan.
I've no idea where this came from or who pressed this record - the label has absolutely nothing written on it! It may be a early demo or test pressing pre-dating the record company release of the LP (this one certainly isn't record company issued!), or it may be that someone 'liberated' a pre-production version from Virgin or Hansa Records (who Japan were signed to back in 1981). Wherever it came from, when it comes to rare Japan records, this must be the rarest of the rare - definately one for the collectors out there.
LP and sleeve are both in excellent condition. It has been stored in a plastic sleeve from new in a smoke free home.
As any fans of Japan will know, David Sylvian and Mick Karn went on (after Japan folded) to have very successful solo careers, but I always thought their best work was when they collaborated in the band Japan. This is an incredibly rare record - I've never seen another copy for sale....
