Description

One of the most famous jazz concerts of all time, in Toronto, May 15 1953, with Charles Mingus, Max Roach, Bud Powell, Dizzie Gillespie, and "Charlie Chan" (Charlie Parker was under contract to some other label). This recording was first issued on two I0" LPs; this was its first issue in the 12" format, on the Debut label (DEB 124) formed by Mingus and Roach, one of the first labels owned by the musicians themselves. The front of the sleeve is good enough to frame; the back has been Scotch-taped in the lower right corner. The record looks okay and plays well, but has ticks and pops: dubbing it onto a CD one would wish to use ClickRepair. A great souvenir of an historic occasion. Shipping is free.
