Description
Rare, was Sealed, never been Played, ART BLAKEY, "Indestructible" Blue Note ST-84193 LP, with original blue note insert sleeve, and still in shrink wrap! Blue Note Records ST-84193 (Stereo). Blue and White, New York Label with "VAN GELDER" mark in Deadwax Trailing. NM+(M-)/M. This LP came from a collection once owned by local Seattle area Jazz DJ and like nearly all of his LPs was rarely or never played (this one was sealed). Art Blakey's "Indestructible!" was recorded over three sessions in the spring of 1964 for Blue Note. The drummer's final album for the label, it was also the last featuring the great sextet line-up. "Indestructible!" is a truly first rate modern jazz album, with memorable original compositions, incredible front-line interplay and soaring solos. The majority of the band -- Wayne Shorter, Curtis Fuller, Cedar Walton and Art -- had been working together for over three years and their chemistry is unparalleled. And while Lee Morgan does replace Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, and Reggie Workman the bass for Jymie Merritt, both "newcomers" had actually been members of the Jazz Messengers during large portions of the previous five years. Among the greatest Blue Note discs of all-time. Highly recommended for jazz aficionados. Really amazing album, another great find!
Side 1: The Egyptian, Sortie.
Side 2: Calling Miss Khadija, When love is New, Mr, Jin.
Credits: Wayne Shorter (Tenor Sax), Curtis Fuller (Trombone), Lee Morgan (Trumpet), Cedar Walton (Piano), Art Blakey (Drums), Reginald Workman (Bass).
